Lately, I have been thinking about how blessed I am in my life. Since Thanksgiving I have been especially thankful that I have enough food and that I have people in my life who enjoy preparing it for me to eat. My mother-in-law, wife, and sisters-in-law all contributed to our Thanksgiving meals and they were delicious! Since then I have been especially aware of the effort that my wife makes to ensure that we have good food that is good for us. My daughter prepared her first roast yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed it last night, and so there is another person in my home who is beginning to prepare meals for me to enjoy (my son has found enjoyment in preparing a variety of breakfasts and also in preparing steaks for supper for quite a while). In the midst of my thoughts of food and physical blessings, I read and have since re-read a passage in Romans.
"For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person--though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die-- but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:6-8
My Lord and Savior laid down His life for me so that I would be reconciled to God the Father. As I look at my sinful life, I hold tightly to His word that "while we were sinners, Christ died for us", even as I strive to live a life worthy of the calling to which I have been called.
Thank you God for all my physical blessings and relational blessings, and thank you for your son Jesus Christ and His willingness to be the atoning sacrifice for my sin.
